vs.

Tips from the Shack

In General:    If you are playing against all ordos, I have two words for you:  DUST SCOUTS.  Here is a rule of thumb for an all ordos game:  whoever wins the dust war, wins the game.  Thats it!!   If your opponent goes for laser tanks, he will be dead as a doornail.  If he goes for kobra, he will be flattened like a pancake.  Making fremen?   He's a goner.  Making guild?  He will be dead long before he ever gets guild.

YOUR GOAL:  Factory Block.  All you need is 4 dustscouts in front of his factory and game over.  Everything that rolls off will die.  Once you have his factory blocked, simply send in some gas with more dust reinforcements.

Your Major Vulnerability:  If you have more dust than he does, you have no vulnerability.  You will win if you manage your units correctly, and thats all there is to it.    The Only risk is that if you leave your base open, he could sneak gas troopers in and wipe you out QUICK.  But that is easy to avoid if you watch the map.  Mixing Mortar with your dust is a major benefit, however I would not do this unless I had more money than I could use to build dust with.    If I have to slow down/pause my dust building to make mortar, I will not make mortar in ordos vs. ordos..

Should I Make Kobra? :   Possibly, but keep in mind that dust can kill kobra very easily.  Kobra will ONLY be effective vs. Ordos is you have several of them together, spread out a bit, with some behind others AND fortified with dustscouts.  In this case, they can kill a mob of dust extremely quickly.  But again,  I do not make Kobra unless I have plenty of money to and I would only make them WITH dust, never alone  (example:  2 Kobra, 15 dust).

Should I make Gas?   No.  not more than a few initially.  The exception is if you think you can sneak some into a backdoor.  Or if you have a factory block, you will want to send some.  OTherwise, I dont make many.    A hoarde of gas is so easy to pick off with 2 dust.  It takes 2 dust shots to kill a gas.  You can take 2 scouts, run up within firing range of a hoarde of gas, pick one off, run away, repeat.  And let me put this in perspective:  it takes 7 dust scout shots to kill another dust scout.   It takes 22 dust scout shots to kill a single lvl 2 dustscout!!!   Wow!   SEE THIS VIDEO of how amazing a promoted dustscout is (use full screen cuz of crappy quality).   Levelled dustscouts are extremely tough!!  If you make gas vs. me, I am going to make it my goal to get levelled dustscouts.   My army of 10 regular dust with 3 levelled dust can beat your army of 20 regular dust.  Your entire 20 dust army could fire on my one single lvl 2 dust and he will still not die.   So if you play an ordos opponent that loves making gas, troopers, mortar- then make it your goal to get levelled dust.
